Every Sunday, without fail, mom and dad made sure that all four of us kids had a dime or a quarter to give in at least two of those offerings. Some Sundays those dimes and quarters had to be scavenged from the deep, mysterious places in mom’s pocketbook or from underneath sofa cushions and car seats, but by the time we made it to church, we had something in our pocket to give.
Face your fear. If you do not, it will continue to hunt you down and paralyze your life. Run toward fear, not away from it. In doing so, you’ll find that God will increase your courage and give you an overcoming spirit. The more you stand toe-to-toe with your fears, the more you will learn to fully trust our God who has authority over all things, and is never afraid of whatever might terrify us.
I’ll never forget my dad wearing a sheet and loping wildly through a pasture behind us, working hard to be a good ghost, but getting laughs from everyone instead of squeals. He’s 81 now, and we still talk about that one when the family gets together. Halloween was a big deal in those days, and I remember thinking as a kid that each Halloween was the best.
Let’s stop messing with cobwebs, and let’s go after the spiders in our lives before they cause bigger problems than we ever dreamed. Grab a shoe. We’re going on a spider hunt!
Doing the right thing can cost us money, it can cost us friends, it can cost us a sale or a grade, but doing the right thing is always the right thing. Here is the integrity payoff though; when we do the right thing, people notice, and people remember. Our integrity can speak louder than any Bible verse we quote or song we sing or bumper sticker we paste on our car. The people in our lives are watching our lives to see if we will do the right thing, even when doing the right thing costs us.
In this time of uncertainty, here’s what the Bible says is certain; until Jesus returns there will be more violence, natural disasters, wars, and many other events that will shake the hearts of many. Let’s decide now that as God’s people we will not be afraid. Let’s steady our hearts and live confidently, knowing that God has a glorious future planned for all who believe on His Son. Our job is to tell the world it’s hope is Him and only Him. These are really tough times, but are we not here on the earth for such a time as this?
So far this year, 200+ people have been brought to Christ as a result of the ministry of Trinity Worship Center. That’s 200+ changed lives! That’s 200+ stories of transformation! When we baptize these new believers it’s our Gatorade moment, our victory lap, our reminder the cross is still powerful to save lost people, and the Kingdom of Jesus is winning!
